Michaela Vawter, MA Candidate

Michaela is currently a graduate student at Regis University pursuing an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Growing up in the California Bay Area, she learned the value of exploring her identities and life challenges in a safe and supportive space. She strives to provide her clients with an opportunity to work on themselves in a similar comfortable environment.

Her approaches to therapy include a somatic and depth psychology approach. Somatic approaches in counseling look at how our physical body interacts with our emotions. In sessions, this looks like slowing down and paying attention to what you feel in your body in response to the stories and experiences you share, and exploring what insights can be gained from these connections.

A depth psychology approach in counseling looks at the whole picture rather than individual symptoms. It takes a deeper look at life events to unpack the root of behaviors and emotions. In sessions, you can access your unconscious through mindfulness, free association, dream analysis, shadow work, and archetypal work.
